Puretec water filters for Central Coast homes

ZC Plumbing installs Puretec water filters across the Central Coast, under-sink filters for drinking water, whole-house filters on the mains, and filtration and UV for rainwater tanks. An under-sink filter is from about $350 installed, and we can come back once a year to change the cartridges so the filter keeps doing its job.

Which water filter do I need?

An under-sink filter treats the drinking water at the kitchen tap, either through its own small filter tap beside the mixer or through a mixer made to take filtered water. It's the right choice when the main complaint is taste, smell or what's in the kettle.

A whole-house filter goes on the mains where the water comes into the house, so every tap, shower and appliance gets filtered water. We fit two-stage and three-stage systems and tell you which suits the water at your place. It's the choice when the issue is sediment, or when you want filtered water in the shower as well as the kitchen, and it needs a spot near the meter with room to change the cartridges.

Rainwater tank filtration matters most on tank-only properties, where everything that washes off the roof ends up in the tank. A sediment and carbon filter on the line to the house is the minimum, and for drinking tank water we fit a Puretec UV unit after it, which treats the water as it passes through.

Do I need a plumber to install a water filter?

Yes, in NSW. A filter connected to the water supply is work for a licensed plumber. Done properly, the filter sits where the cartridges can be reached, there's an isolation valve so it can be serviced without turning off the house, and the water pressure afterwards is what it was before.

How often do the cartridges need changing?

We recommend every twelve months. A spent cartridge stops doing much, and a clogged one slows the water down. Our cartridge change is $140 as of October 2026, plus the cartridges themselves, which vary by system.
