Gutter cleaning and gutter guard on the Central Coast

What does ZC Plumbing’s gutter cleaning include?
ZC Plumbing cleans gutters on single and two-storey homes across the Central Coast and fits gutter guard to keep the leaves out afterwards. Because we're licensed plumbers rather than a cleaning crew, we also check the downpipes and fix any rusted joint, loose bracket or blocked stormwater line we find, often in the same visit.
How often should gutters be cleaned?
Once a year suits most homes, and twice a year for houses under gums or close to the bush, before winter and again before summer. Gutters that overflow in ordinary rain, or have plants growing in them, are overdue.
What happens when gutters aren't cleaned?
Gutters full of leaves, bark and sand overflow in heavy rain, and the water ends up against the walls, under the eaves or through the ceiling. Wet leaves sitting in a steel gutter also hold moisture against it, which is how a lot of gutters rust out years early. Around the bush suburbs, a gutter full of dry leaves is a fire risk as well, and clearing them is on the NSW RFS list of ways to prepare your home before fire season.
What's included in a gutter clean?
We clear the gutters by hand, take the debris away and check that each downpipe runs. If a downpipe won't clear, the blockage is usually further down in the stormwater line, and we have our own camera and jetter to find it and clear it, the blocked drains side of what we do. Anything we find while we're up there, a leaking joint, a loose bracket or a gutter that's lost its fall, you get told about with a photo, so you can decide whether to fix it then or later.
Can you clean two-storey gutters without scaffolding?
Yes. We usually reach two-storey gutters with machinery and work in a harness rather than putting up scaffolding, which saves you the cost of setting it up and pulling it down.
Is gutter guard worth it?
If you're cleaning the gutters more than once a year, usually yes. Gutter guard is a mesh fitted over the gutter that keeps most of the leaves out while letting the rain through, so the gutters need cleaning far less often. We fit it straight after a clean, so it goes on over an empty, sound gutter rather than trapping the old leaves underneath.
What if the gutters need replacing?
Some gutters are past cleaning, rusted through or sagging so the water sits. When that's the case we'll show you, and replacing them is the roof plumbing side of what we do, in quad profile coloured to match the roof or fascia, with a heavier-duty coastal grade for houses right on the beach.
